Ninja Museum of Igaryu

An interactive-style museum in the “Ninja City” where ninja fans gather

The Iga-ryu ninja were mainly active in espionage activities during the chaos of war. This museum is a farm house relocated to Ueno Park from Iga City, the birthplace of the ninja declared as a “Ninja City.” The ninja house is equipped with mechanisms to protect the latest groundbreaking technology of that time in gunpowder and espionage, and male ninja and female ninja (kuno) will show you around the house. Their tour sprinkled with trick doors, revolving doors and hidden katana blades has been praised for being highly realistic. Also, the ninja demonstration show that takes place at Ninja Hiroba (Ninja Experience Plaza) is overflowing with speed and power, making it popular with people of all ages and nationalities. Furthermore, an extensive exhibit of various documents also introduces the lifestyle of ninja, who were usually living day to day as famers and who were said to value having a “correct heart.” Because it also functions as a shop selling ninja merchandise such as rubber shuriken throwing stars and T-shirts, please try stopping by to choose souvenirs. Other than it being possible to be shown around by an English or other foreign language-speaking ninja (inquiry required in advance), there are also English translations of guidance signs set up throughout the museum.
