Hamonoya Sanshu is a third-generation owned and operated smith shop of fine Japanese cutlery. Its roots stem from an 800 year tradition of forging blades since well before the Edo Period. Today they specialize in kitchen cutlery as well as some of the finest beauty and utility products in the market today.

From barber’s sheers to chef’s knives, Sanshu has perfected the art of blade making and the applications of ancient techniques have allowed them to be at the cutting edge of product development and creation.

Upon entering the store you’ll be greeted with one of the handful of friendly and knowledgeable staff members. Hamonoya Sanshu is divided into two main areas for patrons to roam around at their leisure. The gift shop to the left offers a wide array of their specialty products at direct-to-consumer prices saving shoppers the distribution costs without compromise.

The attendants are cheerful and prepared to lend a helping hand or expert opinion about choosing the right blade for you or anyone you are gifting to.

If you’re interested in Japanese history, craft making, swords, blades, or are up for an educationally immersive experience, I highly suggest hopping on a bus and visiting Hamonoya Sanshu in Seki City!

Until next time!
